The film starts with Jake (Jesse Plemons) picking up his girlfriend (Jessie Buckley) for a trip home. The subtle clues about what (might be) happening are all over the place from moment go. Kaufman's I'm Thinking of Ending Things is not a film you watch with a phone in hand.
